This photo sums up my flower world. I inherited my green thumb from my parents - both wonderful growers. From my mother came a love of flowers and from my father a love of gardening. Two years ago I started planting with more purpose and added dahlias to my garden. Little did I know the garden I planted in 2017 would have such significance. That growing season my mother spent her last months with us. My time in the garden was a break from care taking but also a connection to her. I kept her room in flowers. When we celebrated my mother’s life in September that year, I picked every single flower in my garden, filling the house with flowers and making bouquets for everyone to take home.
